Homemade Hot Chocolate


For all of us in Australia, Winter has well and truly settled in! For me that means cosy nights with blankets and hot chocolate at home. I love getting creative with my hot chocolates, so I have put together two of my favourite hot chocolate recipes for you.
If you're a fan of using peanut butter in your recipes, be sure to try this peanut butter and jelly oatmeal for breakfast!
Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
Total time: 5 mins
Serves: 1
Dietary preference: Dairy-free option, Vegetarian, Gluten-free
Ingredients:

250ml (1 cup) milk of choice

2 tsp raw cacao powder
-
1 tsp maple syrup
-
1/2 tbsp peanut butter
-
Pinch sea salt
Method:
1. Warm the milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
2. Once the milk is hot, add the peanut butter and stir until completely melted.
3. Whisk in remaining ingredients until thoroughly combined. Continue to cook for one minute.
4. Serve hot with a sprinkle of sea salt.
Coconut Hot Chocolate
Total time: 5 mins
Serves: 1
Dietary preferences: Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Nut-free
Ingredients:

250ml (1 cup) unsweetened coconut milk (in a carton)

2 tsp raw cacao powder
-
1 tsp coconut sugar
-
Pinch of cinnamon
Method:
1. Warm the milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
2. Once the milk is hot, whisk in remaining ingredients until thoroughly combined. Continue to cook for one minute.
3. Serve hot with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
