The Sweat Team is always there to keep an eye on any questions or comments that might need a more specific answer — like account or subscription information. And make sure to look out for regular Sweat updates and announcements that are pinned to the top of the page!
Sweat Trainer Kayla shows you how to navigate the Forum in this short video tutorial, and keep reading to find a step-by-step guide on how to use the Forum.
Connect: How to join the Sweat Forum
The Forum can be a valuable tool for anyone — whether you’ve just started your fitness journey, or you’ve been training for a while! It’s free to join, and you can join even if you aren’t subscribed to the Sweat app.
How do I join as a member of Sweat?
If you’re signed up to the Sweat app, tap the Community icon at the bottom of your screen and you’ll be taken to the Forum directly. A prompt will appear and you’ll need to create a username before you start.
How do I join if I don’t have a subscription to Sweat?
Don’t worry if you aren’t ready to commit to one of the Sweat programs in full straight away — you can still explore the Forum without a subscription to Sweat. The Forum can be accessed directly via our website, on the Forum page.
After you sign up, make sure to read our Forum Community Guidelines that will appear at the top of the Forum home page.
Explore: How to navigate the Forum
Once you’re in, you can engage in discussions on different health and fitness topics, or even start your own!
On the first screen you see when you enter the Forum, discussions are displayed in list view that include the title, associated tags, number of comments within the discussion, and the time it was posted. The visibility of these things depends on if you view the Forum from the app or your browser.
You can keep track of any discussions you’ve read by taking note of the comment bubble to the right of the discussion title, which will change from pink to a light grey colour.
How do I search discussions?
Discussions are conversations that are created by other users of the Forum. You can search discussions by tags or search by keywords.
If you’re using the Sweat app to navigate the Forum, tap the funnel icon at the top left of the screen to filter a discussion by the following tags:
- Introduce Yourself
- Getting Started
- Fitness Goal Oriented
- Motivation & Encouragement
- No Equipment
- Body Part Specific
- Exercise Education & Advice — “How-to’s”
- Mums & Families
- “In Your Area”
- Sweat Suggestions
- Food & Nutrition
You can also choose a sort order to view a discussion from the latest activity, most commented, newest or oldest.
Once you’ve selected from the filtering options, tap the funnel again to load your search results.
If you’re using a browser, the discussion topics and sort order can be selected separately from a drop-down list at the top right corner of the screen.
If there is a specific topic that you want to search, you can enter keywords into the search bar — in the app, look for “Search for a discussion” at the top of the screen, or if you’re using a browser, click the magnifying glass at the top right corner of the screen where you can toggle between searching for a discussion or a user.
Can I search discussions from a specific user?
You can search a user by their username in the search bar of your browser. This will reveal all discussions created by that user.
Alternatively, you can select that user’s name to bring you to their ‘profile’. Here, you can view all posts, discussions and mentions that user has been involved in within the Forum. This is a great way to keep up to date with what your friends, or others whom you have common interests with in the Forum are talking about!
Engage: How to join the conversation
There are a number of ways to engage in a discussion and with other Forum users!
How do I leave a comment on an existing discussion?
In the Sweat app, tap “Comment” under the discussion title, or enter your comment directly into the “Write a comment” field at the bottom of your app.
In your browser, you can either select “Reply” from the menu on the right of the screen, or scroll to the bottom of the post and type your comment in the “Write a reply” field.
How do I mention another user?
To mention another user in your comment, include the “@” symbol before typing their username. That user will then be notified that they have been mentioned in a post.
Interact with discussions and users by replying or liking comments, or even share them to other platforms!
To reply to a comment within a discussion, select “Reply”. You’ll find this option located to the right of a user’s comment. Replying places your comment directly under another user’s comment once it has been posted.
You can “Like” users’ comments to show your support, or like the discussion itself.
We want you to feel safe in the Forum. If there is a certain discussion or comment that doesn’t quite sit right with you, is personally attacking or spammy, you can notify us immediately by selecting “Report”. You can find this option by looking for the three dots (“...”) within any discussion.
If there is a post that resonates with you, or that you want to share with friends outside of the Forum, you can choose to “Share” it to another platform like message, mail or Facebook.
In your app, tap the three dots (“...”) at the top of the screen, or if you’re using a browser, you’ll find “Share” in the menu to the right of the screen, above “Reply”.
To keep up-to-date with the latest comments and news on a discussion, make sure to select “Follow”.
Tap “Follow” in your app, at the top of the screen within a discussion. In your browser, you’ll see “Follow” in the menu on the right of your screen, with a drop-down list. If you tap the arrow, you can choose to unfollow, follow, or ignore the discussion.
Look for the bell icon at the top left of your app or the top right of your browser to find your notifications.
You’ll be notified every time you are mentioned in a comment, someone reacts to your comment or discussion, or if there are new comments on a discussion that you follow.
Create: How to start a conversation
If you have a question that hasn’t been asked yet — start your own discussion with the Community!
How do I create a new discussion?
To start a discussion in the Forum on the Sweat app, tap the pencil and paper icon you’ll find located to the right of the search bar. In your browser, click “Start a Discussion”.
Before creating a new discussion, make sure to search other discussions to avoid conversation on a topic that has already been brought up. For example, if you want to find women who are working out “In Your Area”, use the filtering options to search this tag first!
Think of a captivating title to give other users an idea of what your discussion is about, then add at least one tag to make it easy for others to find it.
To add an image, you can either take a photo by tapping the camera icon at the bottom of the screen in your app or choose an image from your gallery in both your app and browser. By default, the image will always sit at the bottom of the text.
When you’re ready to post, select “Post” in the app, or “Post Discussion” in your browser.
Consider: Being part of a global community
Above all, we encourage a respectful and supportive environment — we rely on you all to keep the Forum a safe place for everyone!
Remember that we are a global Community, so before you tap ”Post”, consider our diversity and that there may be cultural differences and views on some topics that you might otherwise not have given a second about.
We value healthy debate, feedback, and discussion amongst the Community, but avoid sharing personal information like phone numbers for your own safety.
