10 Ways I Cleansed in 10 Days
I must say, the way I felt a week and a half ago compared to the way that I feel today is like night and day! After labor day I knew I was ready for a cleanse. I had been on one of those little binges where you kind of just stop caring about what you eat and drink and how often you work out and what not and sure enough, I was feeling like rubbish.
But the cycle of eating late at night and having a glass of wine almost daily was suddenly hard to break and I knew that if I didn't make a strong effort to get back on track then I would continue to eat junk, feel like a zombie and have low self esteem.
I decided to do a two week cleanse from:

Yeah. I know. INSANE.
I went into it thinking that I couldn't do it because quite honestly it felt SUPER intimidating to eliminate so many things at once. Luckily I have the ultimate guide and I prepped my food for the week before cleansing which made allll the difference!
So while I was doing this cleanse I realized that there's A LOT of different ways to cleanse and since I was already cleansing myself with the food and drinks I put into my body, I wanted to focus on also cleansing my mind, body and spirit.
Here's 10 ways that YOU can cleanse/detox in 10 days.
DAY 1: DRINK WARM LEMON WATER AS SOON AS YOU WAKE UP AND BEFORE BED.
(Do this all 10 days)
Easy. Cheap and Effective. This will improve your digestion which will help remove toxins in the gut.
DAY 2: GO TO A YOGA CLASS
Deep breathing clears our mind and sends oxygen throughout our entire body including to our gut. Did you know that oxygen is the number 1 nutrient that most people are missing from their diet? Oxygen helps to break down our food so when we're not breathing properly we're not digesting properly.
Also, yoga usually involves a lot of twisting which massages the internal organs and allows for better digestion.
AND if you get your sweat on, then you're also cleansing and detoxing via your biggest organ, YOUR SKIN!
DAY 3: GET A MASSAGE
Have you ever wondered why your massage therapist always tells you to drink a lot of water after your appointment, and even gives you water immediately after your massage? It's more than a nice gesture. Massages release toxins from our muscles into our blood stream which is GREAT IF, we then flush them out.
Be sure to get a nice massage and then drink up that H20 so that you can actually remove those released toxins from your body.
DAY 4: GET A FACIAL
This whole cleanse thing sounds nice right? Haha it totally is!
We're exposed to environmental toxins every single day. Smog, smoke, and pollutions like to get trapped in our skin and when they're in our face, it's not pretty. Getting a facial is essential to getting rid of dead skin cells and extracting the toxins in order to show off some beautiful and healthy skin!
DAY 5: GO TO AN INFARED SAUNA
An infared sauna is similar to a regular sauna...but better. A regular sauna heats up really fast and of course makes you sweat but an infared sauna safely penetrates deep into your muscles and joints with the same rays that come from the sun...without the UV radiation.
I've noticed that infared saunas don't feel as hot on my skin as a normal sauna but I sweat more. This is A MAJOR WAY to detox through the skin. It is also important to make sure that you drink plenty of water post sauna sesh to re hydrate your body. (I usually gulp on coconut water for the rest of the day to restore my electrolytes as well).
DAY 6: GET A COLONIC
This can be a little intimidating if you've never done this before but believe me, it's worth it! A colonic is sort of like getting a brazilian wax, but instead of someone helping you groom, someone is helping you release some SERIOUS toxins from your digestive tract. In my experience, I feel SO much better post colonic, less bloated, more energized, and light. I also feel like my digestion is better and faster for the days following.
DAY 7: DRY BRUSH YOUR BODY
We exfoliate our faces every day but when was the last time that you did the same thing for the rest of your body?! Dry brushing is when you buy one of those long brislted wooden brushes that you use to wash your back in the shower but you don't get it wet. You leave it dry as you start from your feet and move in an upwards direction.
First exfoliate your legs, then your stomach, chest and arms. Always move the brush towards your heart.
This process helps remove toxins in the skin, get the blood flowing and leaves you feeling energized with baby soft skin.
DAY 8: DRINK A DETOX TEA
Detox tea's are a cheap, easy and effective way to reduce bloat by cleaning out the digestive system. I get mine for about 5 dollars at my local grocery store.
DAY 9: JOURNAL AND MEDITATE
Cleansing means cleansing our minds too. We never really give ourselves the chance to just sit with our thoughts and decide that we want to let go of something or persue something.
Journal how you're feeling after 9 days of cleansing and really focus on how you feel. You'll be surprised with the emotions that roll through you.
DAY 10: AVOID GLUTEN, WHEAT, DAIRY, COFFE AND ALCH.
These are things that typically disrupt our digestive system and create unhealthy bacteria in our gut. Giving our bodies a break from these things will keep the unhealthy bacteria in your gut from feeding on all this artifical sugar and it will slowly start to leave.
I noticed after 7 days of avoiding the things I listed above that I went from eating some of it every single day to not only not craving it anymore but finding tons if alternatives and I've been including more veggies in my diet.
