Habits and New Year's Resolutions
Habits and New Year´s Resolutions

It´s that time of the year again, deciding on a new year´s resolution. We all have goals we want to reach each year, but actually following through? Questionable. Everyone starts the new year really positive and excited about starting all over… I mean new year´s are all about fresh starts right? When it´s December, most people stop caring about their health. All those holiday parties, drinking, eating, and ZERO time to go to the gym. It´s okay to go all out in December, I´m all about that balance if you´ve been good all year long. But I said it there, BALANCE.

Yes. Go to all your holiday parties, have fun and enjoy the holidays with your friends and families. But continue with those healthy habits! Try to eat healthy throughout the day and still complete your workouts. Your body will thank you! You´re consuming more than usual, so the chances you´ll loose the resistance and stength you´ve worked so hard for this year are HIGH.

The new year should be about continuing habits, not re-starting habits. Health is a lifestyle, you should have goals to better yourself in certain things but you shouldn´t have the mentality about FRESH STARTS. You should have never stopped.

You start the year real motivated, a month or two and you´re already slacking again. It´s important to try to create these healthy habits in your life and make it so you´re just used to eating healthy and you´re used to going to the gym. If you have the right mindset, living this lifestyle will just be natural for you. I honestly love eating healthy and excercising, but a lot of people do it just so they dont gain weight or to lose weight. Once you have the right mindset, you´ll start loving doing these things, especially once you start seeing progress.

So back to new year´s resolutions, following through means your resolutions have become a habit. If your resolution is to have a six pack for example, this means eating healthy and consistency at the gym became a habit. We all know abs are made in the kitchen, so if you follow through with a healthy diet all year long… ABS are always possible.

I think if you put your mind into something and really work for it and want it, it´s easier to accomplish. Having goals just because it´s the new year doesn´t mean you´re actually going to accomplish those goals. The new year is an excuse for goals but most people stop caring after a few months, especially fitness and health wise.

I´m one of those people who really puts her mind into her resolutions. One year my resolution was to start running because I HATED running. So I started running 5KM each morning to a point I actually ended up liking to run. I don´t run as often now but I like to go out for runs whenever I feel like it. Most of the time we don´t like things because we´ve never really tried them, if you do something often enough, maybe
you´ll start liking them like I did. It´s all about trial and error.

Let´s start thinking about goals we´re actually going to want to achieve throughout the year and not short-term, 2 month goals we won´t follow through with. Put your mind into them, and believe me when it´s December again you´re going to be glad you were persistent and were able to fulfill the goals you wanted 11 months ago.
