  1. Set the height of the Smith machine bar to approximately chest height. Turn to face the Smith machine and, with your feet two steps away, hold the bar in an overhand grip (palms facing down) with your arms extended, slightly closer than shoulder-width apart. This is your starting position.
  2. Inhale. While keeping your shoulders as still as possible, bend your elbows to lower your forehead towards the bar, ensuring that your body remains in a straight line from your head to your heels.
  3. Exhale. Using your triceps, extend your elbows to return to the starting position, ensuring that your shoulders, elbows and wrists remain in line with one another at all times. Repeat for the specified number of repetitions.
