4 Ways to Stay on Track This 4th of July
Stay on track

OKAY.

I am alllll about a BBQ, a pool party, a rooftop, and a cocktail during summer time. I want to tan, and nap and eat as much as possible BUT I also want to feel good doing it.

I find that I'm more motivated to work out during the summer season because I know that I'll be in swim suits and summer dresses 90% of the time. I'm also more motivated to go out to eat and grab a drink with a friend though so trying to find a way to balance everything to a point where I feel good and enjoy myself is what it is all about.

I have some tips for you guys today because I know you've been killing it with your health and fitness but I also know you don't want to wake up on the 5th with MAJOR regrets.

Here is how I will be balancing the 4th of July so please feel free to join me!

DRINK WATER ALL DAY:

This is an easy way to either get bloated or AVOID getting bloated.

Let's face it. It's hot, we're probably going to be drinking, we're eating salty chips and salsa and water is how we can bounce back from ALL of that.

Drinking water will help flush out all the sodium we're consuming which will make us less bloated, and it will actualy reduce our appetite so instead of thinking you're hungry and reaching for another sandwich, you'll be satisfied meaning you may consume fewer calories.

GET IN A WORKOUT

Getting in a solid one hour workout first thing in the morning is one of the best things you can do on a day where you know you're going to be lounging around all day.

It allows you to burn more calories throughout the day and potentially (depending on how hard you work) you can burn more calories while you're resting for the next 1-2 days!

BURN EXTRA CALORIES WHILE YOU TAN???

YES!

I suggest doing a 30 minute full body HIIT workout followed by 25 minutes of jogging and running to really enhance that caloric burn.

Healthy choices

MAKE HEALTHY(er) CHOICES

I don't want to tell you to watch your every bite and keep track all day long of what you've eaten but if you want to make it a little bit of a healthier 4th of July then here's what you can do.

If you know you're going to a BBQ and you're not sure if they'll have healthy options available, bring your own!

I would bring a veggie platter and some pita and hummus and maybe even make a big butter lettuce salad with cucumbers, baby tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, and avocado. It's simple, healthy and definitely a fresh option for anyone to enjoy.

GET A SKINNY COCKTAIL

Summer cocktails are cute but they tend to be LOADED with sugar which adds in tons of unwanted calories and lets that bloat sneak right back in. I would pick gin or tequilla as it is lower in calories compared to darker liquors.

If I do gin, which is a fabulous botanical option, then I would pair it with a little bit of soda and lime juice.

If I'm doing tequilla I would do the same thing except I would muddle in some jalepenos and maybe some cucumber for a fresh and spicy option!
