Top 4 Favorite LISS Exercises

If you're familiar with Bikini Body Guide, then you're familiar with the 30-45 minute sessions of LISS cardio. If not, LISS stands for Low-Intensity Steady State cardio! Instead of working really hard to have a really high heart rate for your cardio session, you are focused on aerobic exercise that gets you up to 50-60% of your max heart rate. Having a fitness tracker really helps with this part until you're used to what your heart rate should feel like! When I started BBG, I definitely went too hard and too fast for LISS cardio, which meant I was missing out on a lot of the fat-burning benefits.
To be honest, LISS can get quite boring! I used to just walk on the treadmill or use the elliptical. I even cut it short to avoid it. But below are my top 4 favorite LISS exercises I started to use to switch things up and to ensure I was getting at least 30-45 minutes of cardio in!
Walking My Dog
LISS is a great way to spend time with your dog! And your dog will love it for you too. It's also a great adventure for the both of you if you keep taking different routes. As a photographer, I found many new spots for taking pictures! My dog even models for me sometimes ;)
Biking
I actually don't own a bike, but there's a company in my town that has suddenly dropped bikes all over the city! It's called VBikes, and you use an app to load money into your "wallet" to rent the bikes for $1/hour. You unlock the bikes via Bluetooth, and it's awesome and convenient. For $1 every other day, I'm able to ride a bike around town and get some exercise in! It's also a great way to see the city (aside from walking). When you're in a car, you can't focus on the details, and that's what I love about walking and biking!
Swimming
I don't do this one enough at all, but when I have access to the pool, I love it. Make sure you're not swimming intensely but just enough to get your heart rate up. Some slow laps around the pool can be very relaxing!
Yoga
Yoga is a great form of LISS exercise! I love that one of the goals of yoga is to do your practice with a steady and lower heart rate. You need to learn to control your body to be stronger and more efficient. My heart rate does go up, but you can go into poses to slow it down. It's also a great way to get much needed stretches. I used to be all about weights and running, but adding yoga really helps you become mobile, and it also works muscles I didn't know I wasn't hitting with my regular exercises!
As you can see, there are so many ways to do LISS cardio! If you get bored, try one of these suggestions to keep it fresh. Also make sure you are in the fat-burning zone and dial back on the exercise if your heart rate is too high.
