5 Ways to Upgrade Your Workout Routine

Ever get bored of doing the same old workout routine over and over and OVER?! It happens to the best of us, believe me. There are times when I'm literally dreading my workouts becuase I'm just so over them.
There are only so many burpees and jump squats you can do before you've had enough. Am I right?
So the real question is...HOW do you upgrade your workout routine when you're completely unmotivated with your current one? Here are a few simple ways to upgrade your workout routine!

1. Get Outside!
This is my favorite way to upgrade my workout routine! Sometimes, all we need is a change of scenery to get us back on the motivation train. Since I live in LA, the beach is definitely my favorite place to workout. I just grab my yoga mat, water bottle, and some dumbbells. And I'm ready to go! I also like hiking as a means of cardio outside. There's this trail near my house that leads to the gorgeous view of LA. And when I'm feeling super ambitious, I take my weights with me and get in some strength training at the top! You can also head to your local park or even your backyard...it doesn't matter. But sweating under the sunshine can make all the difference. Just remember to bring your sunblock!
2. Sweat with your BFF's.
Any time I'm feeling bored or unmotivated, I text one of my fit babes to workout with me. Having someone right beside me going through the same challenging workout helps push me to work harder. Whether it's taking a workout class or strength training in the gym, doing it with a friend makes it THAT much more fun. I am a super silly person and love to laugh and joke through my workouts, so my friends and I are never bored during a sweat sesh.

3. Add some HIIT to your daily workout.
If you haven't discovered HIIT workouts, NOW IS THE TIME PEOPLE. It will completely transform your workout routine. HIIT stands for high intensity interval training, which pretty much is exactly what it sounds like. The idea is to take a high intensity exercise (like burpees, jump squats, mountain climbers etc.) and perform them in an interval style of training.
So, you could do 1 minute of burpees and then rest for a minute. One minute of mountain climbers, rest for a minute. One minute of jump squats, rest for a minute. Then you could repeat this routine 2-3 more times.
Let me tell you, get ready to SWEAT. This type of training really gets your heart rate elevated and helps burn fat. HIIT is great to warm up with or you could even do it as your main form of exercise!
4. Track your progress.
I know that I sometimes get bored and unmotivated with my workout routine when I'm not seeing results. But quite honestly, I sometimes just forget to track my progress! It's important to take progress pictures so that you can actually SEE all the improvements you are making on your body. Also, I like to track my progress based on improvements that you can't see...like strength! I can't tell you how proud I was of myself the first time I did a pull up. It was so motivating to look back at how far I had come and how much stronger I had gotten!
